• [DotE] The Necrophage Update


    Hey guys,

    These past few days have been tiring but fun! We've had the opportunity to meet some of our forums regulars at the office last Friday. Indeed, we have organised a playtest session of Endless Legend and Dungeon of the Endless, and we've decided to invite some of you over. It was a cool experience for all of us I'm sure and we'll share the experience on the blog very soon. But for now, let's focus on DotE: we have our "Necrophage" update coming up for you!

    This update [0.3.5] will bring a new floor (the dungeon now has a total of 6 floors), a new Necrophage environment and the hero you have chosen in a previous GAMES2GETHER vote, difficulty levels, new game events created by the community, and many more. Check out the release notes below.

    RELEASE NOTES [0.3.5]

    Changes & Additions
    • Added a new floor; the dungeon now has a total of 6 floors
    • Added the Necrophage environment at the level 5 and 6
    • Added 2 difficulty levels, which can be selected at the start of the game:
      • Too Easy
      • Easy
    • Added 3 new events:
      • Cryo Capsule – The player can trade Industry once to: obtain Food, find heroes, or a Toxic Cloud (see below) [G2G]
      • Dust Factory – In exchange of Industry, the Dust Factory can either give you Dust, or explode and destroy all the module slots in the room
      • Toxic Cloud – You can randomly find the Toxic Cloud in rooms that will slow hero movement and attack speed
    • Added a new Necrophage hero, Skroig [G2G]
      • Characteristics: he refuses to wear an armour (it doesn’t fit his style); because he finds his own food, the recruitment and levelling up costs are reduced
    • Added Science loot
    • Added some VFX and SFX
    • Improved some module tooltips
    • Fixed a bug that modifies the attack power of heroes on some directions and prevents the reduction of the cooldown for some heroes (Max, Opbot, Golgy)

    Balance
    • Hero max level is now set to 8: 2 levels by heroes have been added and the stats tweaked (globally reduced and increased some)
    • Changed the unlock levels of skills Warning: some levels won’t unlock any skill
    • Removed the Operate skill for Gork and Troe
    • Removed the Repair skill for some Deena
    • Tweaked the item loot table and costs
    • Added the Operate skill on 2 items: Scope and Energy Bar
    • Increased difficulty of Hydra and Zombie mobs
    • Added a speed reducer on heroes in room with Hydra mobs
    • Increased Science cost of minor module upgrades (+20%)
    • Increased effect of minor module upgrades
    • Tweaked module power:
      • Slightly reduced Prisoner Prod power
      • Increased Tesla power
      • Reduced Claymoar power
      • Increased Tear Gas power and added a damage over time
    • Removed the “special” level 5
    • Increased difficulty in the last levels

      Any ETA on hard mode? As for G2G, I'm gonna vote for more monsters I think. I'd like to see some weak enemies that spawn in swarms and some rare, fearsome big fat dudes that tend to spawn alone and still stomp on everything you have (perhaps ignoring heroes completely and just focused on devastating minor and major modules)

      Hmm that's odd, I remember correcting with "Too Easy / Easy" before publishing. And now I'm home I somehow can't edit the post. I guess this will wait until tomorrow but consider this a mistake: it should be "Too Easy / Easy" instead of "Easy / Normal".

      J'ai un gros bug mon héro reste coincé sur un des nouveau ajouts (celui en forme d’œil qui propose richesse au mort) impossible de le déplacer uen fois sur le module d’ailleurs le module est très très difficilement sélectionnable.

      difficulty system is a great addition. and as for the g2g vote, i think new monsters would be awesome. like panczasu mentioned rarer, more boss like creatures would be cool. ones that dont just attack but have more specific purposes. or maybe they have a chance to be mutated by the toxic cloud. or blah blah blah.....anyways cool update.

      I have to admit, I am mostly looking forward to hearing more about Endless Legend =DAfter having enjoyed Age of Wonders 3 beta for a hundred hours or so, I have high expectations from this. The year of the TBS has returned to it's golden age

      Well, I actually am less bothered by this mistake than by the implications that this allows.

      I mean the difficulty-levels have their names for a reason.

      And if we now have "Too easy" and "Easy" this most likely means that there will be additional levels in the future...

      Or what else could be the explanation for calling them like they are called now?

      Feedback about v. 0.3.6- The intro is brief yet beautiful. There should be a story mode as simple as it may be, because this game deserves it.- the menus / healthbars / descriptions are sometimes too small to see / read, there should be options to change the size of the GUI- It would be nice to be able to recruit more heroes, or at least have some spare slots where to place some backbenchers. But that might spoil the fun, isn't it?- The game is so flexible it can easily incorporate more game modes, like time challenge, survival, etc.

      It was a lot harder before you guys added difficulty i couldn't get past the second floor!!! now i have finally made it to the third floor thanks guys for that
      i love both of your guys games but they are based in the same galexy or universe and yet they are two completly diffrent game ideas. endless space a high graphic civilatation in space if you will, and dungeon of the endless a pixel dungeon explorer/ fighter. it just is intresting but i still like both of them so keep up the good work

      Really enjoyed the update. It made the game actually playable for me LOL. I still think however you should be given more dust and industry at the start as i find it a real up hill struggle at later stages. Keep it up!
