    I tried running ES in a window and the same thing happened… It's strange that it is stable on my old 2009 iMac which is running 10.8.1

    For all those having trouble on the mac - I'm a long time player of this game on PC, and issues are resolved quickly, generally. If it doesn't work for you now, there should be a fix soon (from my personal experience).

    Personally, I think this is offensive - accusing people of pirating software when they have bought it, and it does not work. That's just my opinion - if when I bought ES I was asked to prove it was not pirated, I would have probably just left.

    How can you be sure ?
    It's a real nightmare to try to solve things for people that don't play up to date version of the game (and pirated copies of the game are very very very often one or more patches behind)

    We’re just encouraging people to add they’re forum awards as we had a lot of players coming back to us with issues coming from pirated versions. We are a small team and we lose a lot of time testing and checking those pirate bug reports, dev time which could be better used fixing legit version bugs or make the game better. I probably did not explain it properly in the post you quoted, so I apologise if I may have appeared rude.

    Thanks, we got a few output logs (the more, the better) and will try to fix all our Mac users' startup issues. We recently fixed an infinite loop in the GUI which was related to the resolution: this might or might not help everyone, but we are doing our best!

    I for one would like to thank you. My issue is resolved and I am now able to play the game in both Windows and OS X! Thank you for your time and efforts!

    EDIT: One other question, are the save files compatible without modification? IE can I move my saves back and forth easily?

    My issue resolved itself. I noticed that ES wasn't the only steam game that didn't start so i figured it had to do something with my system or some other software or background process that wouldn't allow the games to start.

    I resolved this issue by simply creating a clean user account on my mac where I did nothing else but install steam and download ES. Voilá, it workes like a charm now

    Maybe that helps some of you...

    Thanks for the tips. I think it will help all users having the following lines in their Player.log (like _panta_ and Fallout886):

    Well, thanks to the output log files we got, we actually found that there were several, but particular cases: players on OS 10.8.1 with the Retina Macbook Pro, and a more general case (any OS version) with Steam API related issues.

    Just wanted to add I updated my MBP (2012) with the new EFI fix/OS10.8.2 and I can now play ES without any crashing!! Whop Whop

    The only downside is my fan is constantly going and the MBP runs quite hot…

    Unfortunately, still nothing works for me. I created a clean account, installed only EC through Steam. The same behavior -I see the black screen and than game crashes. However, log file is now different. I attached it. Please, help me to resolve the issue. All my other games work perfectly fine, just ES is not working.
